When I joined Transform we had not begun to look at our product like a BI tool with advanced authoring. I was curious about the concept of presenting the same metric data through different lenses and wrote this report

Taking it to the product.
Our CEO loved this concept but had not seen something like this on desktop and said, “Yes! but how would you productize that?” The answer came a few months later when our company deicided to build Metric Boards and Query.

Conclusion
The chart type selector has grown to encapsulate many different chart types for many different scenarios.
It alwyas works no matter what data you are working with.
